Important ancient object in Surin National Museum
1. Stone colonette. (Fragment of ornate door Pilaster.)
Khmer Art, Prei Kmeng Style, 7th Century AD.
From Prasat Phum Phon, Amphoe Sangkha,Surin.
This fragment
of ornate door pilaster is carved from sandstone, it is round in form,
decorate with floral pendants and garlands.
Size : Diameter 23 cm. Height 40 cm.
2. Leaf-shaped gold plaque.
Khmer Art, Baphuon style, 11th Century AD.
From Prasat Tamuen Thom, King Amphoe Phanum Dong Rak, Surin.
The gold plagues
are leaf-shaped in form and engraved with leaf pattern, They were
found beneath the Prasat where they had been buried with the foundation
stone.

3. Stone statue of male figure.
Khmer Art, Angkor Wat Style, 12th Century AD.
From Prasat Tamuen Thom, King Amphoe Phanum Dong Rak, Surin.
This male figure
wears a crown with a diadem on the forehead and a short pleated garment
with two frontal hanging pleated panels of cloth, the shorter panel
above the longer one. Both panels terminate in the bifurcated, splayed
"fishtail" (or"anchor") motif. This short pleated
is fastened by a jewelry belt and has a pocket - like fold on the
left.

4. Stone lintel depicting Krishna battle with beasts.

From Prasat Sikhoraphum, Amphoe Sikhoraphum, Surin.
This lintel
is decided into two parts. The lower part consists it Krishna battling
with Simhas. These Simhas emit floral designs or garlands from these
months. It each end of a garland is a naga emitting Simha. Across
the upper part are dancing females and seated human figures in niches,

5.Brown glazed ceramic vessel.

From Tambon Truat, King Amphoe Si Narong, Surin.
Large Storage
Jar with a narrow mouth rim and four horizontal handles decorated
with geometric design. The body is thick, dark gray and covered
in a dark brown glaze. The glazed is very thin and if exposed to
damp could easily flake off. Such jar are generally found in site
which have had Khmer influence and usually have the brown glaze
seen here. The largest kilns sites were situated in Ban Kruat, Ban
Baranae in Buriram Province.
