The building
of Surin National Museum divided in four sections as follow.
Section 1 is a hall
of entrance and a sidewalk.
Section 2 is a meeting room, auditorium, children room
and library.
Section 3 is exhibition hall and office.
Section 4 is storehouse

of Surin National Museum can be divided in 5 topics (now are not
finished)
Natural Sciences
Display about
the physics condition of Surin province : topography, climate, geology,
natural resources such as soil, water, forest, wild animals, national
parks, etc. Since Surin province is one of the high quality Jusmin
Rice resources, there is also the rice and farming display. The
displayedsamples are plants, local animals, soil, stone, mineral,
strain of Jusmin and local rice.
History-Archaeology
Concerns about
the development of people since prehistoric period according the
evidence discovered in Surin province about 2000-1500 years ago,
Davaravati period about the 7-8th Century, Khmer culture period
about the 7-13th Century, Lanchang-Ayuddhaya period about the 19th
Century. Display the model of life styles and funeral ceremony of
the prehistoric people and antiquities of Davaravati, Khmer and
Ayuddhaya-Lanchang period discovered in Surin province. Besides,
there are models of ancient monument and audio-visual to give knowledge
in Archaeology and History of Arts in Surin province.
Local History
Concerns about
the history of Surin province since the Kui people caught the white
elephant escaped from the Royal Palace in Ayuddhaya, caused the
Kui village be promoted to town which later reform the government
to the lieutenant governor and democracy, Besides, the contents
also concern about the history of economics, social, population
and education. Display the model of important events of City History
of Surin province such as the white elephant catching, the train
to Surin province, the first age of market condition with goods
which can help the audience to imbue the history of Surin province
since the ancient time to present.
Ethnology
Concerns about
the population in Surin province which can be divided into 3 groups
: Kui, good in catching and training elephant; Khmer, the original
group of Surin province; Laos the latter group immigrated to Surin
province. Display the models of life styles of the three groups
such as their houses, ceremonies, photographs and paintings, daily
tools and objects reflected their lives and cultures Besides, there
is also a computer touch screen to give other information.
Local heritage
Concerns about
the famous culture heritage of Surin province : hand-crafts such
as silver ornaments and silk weaving; folk performances such as
"Ruam" or local singing and local dancing, "Jariang"
or local singing and local music such as "Kantruem"; elephant
keeping which is famous throughout the world. Display the models,
photographs and audio-visual of the hand-crafts production and their
usefulness with some samples of silk cloth and silver, besides,
the model screen of the elephant-keeper village and audio-visual
will help the audience get knowledge about the local wisdom heritage
since the ancient time till present.
