Indoor Exhibition
The construction
of Khon Kaen National Museum building started since 1967 A.D. For
the front building only that the educational budget of 1968 A.D.
had been allocated. Later on more budget allocated to the construction
of the rear building in 1969 A.D. Due to the exposed location on
the hill, the museum buildings were always damaged by rainstorms,
the decorated item and educational material were also broken causing
the delay of interior exhibition arrangment. The construction was
temporarily stop waiting for building and furniture repair. Until
1972 A.D. the repair of exhibition area was completed and the king
came to officiate the opening of Khon Kaen National Museum on December
20, 1972 A.D.
In 1992 A.D.
the Fine Arts Department set up the development guide line to overhaul
this museum with supporting budget at the amount of 3,000,000 Bahts
to facilitate the construction of office building and meeting room.
The budget amount of 982,300 Bahts received in 1993 A.D. for being
the cost of stationery, furnishing items and display arrangement
with the objective to upgrade and develop the indoor permanent exhibitions
of the museum that respond to local community requirement and also
observe the guideline to develop modern national museum affair.
Exhibition features
To exhibit
the local content of upper Isan area in the field of Geography,
History Archaeology, Folk culture and Ethnology classified into
different topics as follow :
1. Geography and Geology aspects of upper Isan region.

Settlement stage, Tools and Utensils, Burial Rituals, Important
Archaeological sites.

Ancient community and Urbanization stage.
1.2 Historical
Period

Stone Boundary Marker, Religions and Beliefs, Costumes, Letter and
Language, Architecture, Buddha votive tablets making, Ancient objects
from the excavation, Excavation project at Muang Fa Daed Song Yang
in Kamalasai district of Kalasin Province.
