The Ancient Monuments in Kamphaeng Phet

         The Fine Arts Department had divided the ancient or historic monuments in Kamphaeng Phet into groups a follws :-

         Group 1 : 14 historic monuments inside the old city wall of Kamphaeng Phet, such as Wat Phra Kaeo, Wat Phra Taht, the shrine of Siva, Sra Mon (the old palace).

         Group 2 : more than 40 historic monuments outside the old city wall of Kamphaeng Phet to the north, so called 'Aranyik' such as, Wat Phra Non, Wat Phra si Iriyabot, Wat Chang Rob, Rat Arwat Yai.

         Group 3 : 15 historic monuments outside the ancient city of Kamphaeng Phet to the east such as, Wat Wang Phra That, Wat Kalithai, Wat Lai Kram.

         Group 4 :12 historic monuments both inside and outside the ancient city of Nakhom Chum such as , Wat Boromma That, Wat Sum Ko, Wat Nong Langka, Wat Chedi Klang Tung.

The permanent exhibition inside this museum isdivided into two topics :

Topics 1 (ground floor)
            The history of Kampaeng Phet province and its development, from geography and ecology which are suited for settlement, the prehistoric evidences of towns during 14th - 15th centuries, the glory of Kampaeng Phet city in Sukhothai and Ayutthaya period, and the city under the Kingdom of Siam orBangkok.

Topic 2 (Upper floor)
            The collection of sculptures, found at the ancient monuments in Kampheng Phet such as, the Buddha images in various schools of art, the Brahman divinities, the fragments of terraccotta and stucco relief decorated the Munoments the votive tablets and some molds.
Morever, the large scale of ancient objects as the replica of stupa, a stucco lion, the bronze cannons, a glazed jar and an ancient temple toilet, are exhibited outside the building.
